Amazing food and a beautiful ambience! We absolutely loved the veg korma curry with saffron rice and vegetarian pasta. We skipped the non-veg this time, but we’ll definitely be back to try more next time we’re in the area.

We had a wonderful family dinner tonight at Slate Staples Restaurant, and it genuinely exceeded all expectations. From the outside, it is a small and easy-to-miss venue, but once you step inside, it is full of charm and warmth. The atmosphere immediately feels welcoming and relaxed, and that feeling is carried through by every staff member. The service deserves special mention. The entire team was attentive and friendly, but Daniel in particular stood out. He has an incredible ability to anticipate what you need before you even ask. Nothing felt like an inconvenience, and every request was met with genuine enthusiasm and care. It is rare to experience service that feels this natural and thoughtful. The food was outstanding. We were a group of six and collectively tried most of the main and signature dishes, and not a single one disappointed. The steak was beautifully cooked, the burgers were excellent, the fries crisp and well seasoned, and the calamari was spot on. The linguini with seafood was especially memorable—rich, well balanced, and full of flavour. Portion sizes were just right: generous without being overwhelming, which we personally appreciated. The wine selection is another highlight. If you enjoy good wine, you will be impressed. Whoever curates the list clearly knows what they are doing. The quality is excellent, and the pricing offers real value for money, with some truly top-tier wines available at very reasonable prices. Overall, Slate Staples Restaurant offers exceptional food, outstanding service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Booking ahead is recommended if you want to be safe, but walk-ins are also welcomed. We left feeling genuinely looked after and thoroughly satisfied. Highly recommended, and we will absolutely be returning.

The service is fabulous from the get go; very friendly and efficient. And, I overheard the staff member going the extra mile in relation to another patron's food allergies, ensuring that an ingredient was appropriate. I ordered the lamb curry ... it was so tender and flavoursome, and the portion was more than enough. Definitely recommended. The food is well-priced for the quality and portions.

Great food, great hosts. Went down with my family (including young kids). The Chef and his team were great hosts, food was reasonably priced, good portions and very tasty. Their service was very personable and even kids loved the experience. I recommend this place and we surely will be back again.

Been here a couple times now, at different times of the day. Staff are always happy and welcoming. Food is amazing given their wide variety, they really do go above and beyond with each dish.

Stopped by this place in Yarra Junction by chance and so glad we did! Hands down some of the best chippies we’ve had — crispy, loaded with gravy and a nice peppery kick The mango and mixed berries smoothies are amazing, the bacon & egg toastie was spot on, and the kids’ meals were delicious too. Super friendly service and a great vibe. Highly recommend!

My wife and I have have been regular customers at Slade's since they opened in Yarra Junction. The quality of the food is very high and the taste is delicious. The menu is very cosmopolitan. Our favourites are goat or lamb curry with frangipani as a dessert. The staff are a great bunch, all very friendly and more than helpful at all times. Nothing is too much trouble We dine in and also order takeaway most Friday evenings. Our adult family have now followed suit and order takeaway most weekends. Fantastic to have a business like this locally without the need to go out of town. Gold star and 10 out 10. Well done Slade Staples
